The Goddess is alive! Artlovemagic is afoot…
by Summer Spillman
Goddess…the one word that encompassed my experience ofartlovemagic’s GIRLSHOW 2009.
Creative female energy flowed through the halls, walls, andeven the bathroom stalls of the Mokah Lounge in Deep Ellum.
The Goddesses of Dallas were beckoned in by Deb Driscoll andMelody Hay, superb artists in their own right.
On Friday the energy swept in the door as the vibrant AtomicPink raised the consciousness levels from mycelium to mushroom. From the upcycled shirts to the pink drinks,Atomic Pink crept into the smallest of particles as the crowd exchanged atomicnumbers.
Displays ranging from Sand paper art to D&D jewelry, andHenna to Hemp Jewelry, the Gallery blessed us as we walked through it withimages affixed somehow to this physical realm from the collective unconsciousvia colors of a vivid variety.
In the Lounge, women opened their hearts and released theirtears to the sounds from the veiled key master of Delphi, reflected the radiantGayden Lee, and swooned over Maggie and Alexandra’s words of wisdom and wit.
Lead by Jennifer Hurley, Blaming Grace headed out to thestreets of Deep Ellum, banjo, guitar and mandolin in hand, to spread theartLOVEmagic. Although the trip was fun, we were happy to be lured back to theGoddess Glow of GirlShow, where Jennifer sang sweet melodies like she was bornto do.
Glancing to the right corner of the stage, I was taken abackby a beautiful lifelike face of the Ancient Mother, the Crone of wisdom, painted by Hayley Ryan. Through the painting, Her Vision and Voice moved me,for the Goddess was present in all forms at Girlshow.
Heading back to Heidi Wunder’s henna booth, weaving my waythrough henna happenings, a handmade bowl was shown to me. The bowl waspurchased from Diana Rushing, handmade and glazed in all its glory. The bowlwas purchased for future use as an offering bowl. Yes, the Goddess was aliveand moving through the event from one vessel to another, and through everyoneat the same time.
GIRLSHOW was what we needed. After the experience of it, one can truly believethatThe Goddess is Alive, artlovemagic is afoot…

I have been invited to play at a soiree hosted by Marquis of Vaudeville, an interesting and talented band, at the Curtain Club in Dallas on June 20th.
This is a themed party and many extraordinary bands will be playing. The theme of course is Alice in Wonderland, but in a Victorian style costume.
In addition to the music, Vaudeville Cabaret dancers will be performing a spectacular show!
for more information on this event, you may visit Marquis of Vaudeville at:

I am working on a special costume for this event...India meets Steampunk meets the Mad Hatter!!!
